1.29.10 DAVID JACOBS-STRAIN

Jeanne stopped in with DJS to play some before his benefit gig for the radio station in The Studio...Upstairs. What a great person. What a great player. What a great singer!
I didn't get to see him play last night...I pulled monitor-the-broadcast duty downstairs. Which was great. Thanks to everybody who helped out last night, especially Will Schillinger, who went WAY beyond the call of duty in pulling together a sound system and then running the thing. We had good sound for a good show.

1.22.10 JIMMY TAY-MAN

So I go to WAMC on Tuesday determined to ask if we could broadcast the James Taylor concert; before I could open my mouth, Alan Chartock offers it to us. One problem: WAMC's stream was likely to be unreliable because of the crunch of global demand, and we technically couldn't access the NPR feed. So we had to hook an FM receiver into the board. Second problem: we couldn't get a strong WAMC signal in Studio A. So we got a whole bunch of antenna wire and ran it up and down the hallway. Problems solved!

1.15.10 CROOKED STILL

Well this was an odd show. I started 10 minutes late (oops) and had to leave 20 minutes early. And Jeanne Bassis and I had a chat (that I had to split from) with the very, very nice Aoife O'Donovan of Crooked Still, who was driving to their gig at Infinity Hall. But I squeezed a little music in, featuring a bunch of local stuff...
