7.27.2007 OZ NOY AND JG & THE BRBs

I hardly had to do anything. Started out talking with the delightful Katherine Bayer about Enlightennext's annual jazz show at Fox Hollow--on Sunday they've got Oz Noy and Unfulfilled Desires playing for free.

Then The Blue Ribbon Boys with Julia Gottlieb came in, we had five musicians and me in the studio, with Ben Downing and Jeremy Wallace looking in from the doorway, and it was hot in any number of ways.

Julia Gottlieb is something special, beleeveUmee. She sounds like she just dropped in from 1941 to sing you a song or two. Remarkably pure and controlled voice. And the Blue Ribbon Boys play as sympatico and authentically as you can get. Players, in the best sense of the word.
